Students inducted into the National Honor Roll
The National Honor Roll has announced a list of area students who have qualified for induction into the 2007/2008 National Honor Roll. Students and their listed school follows:
Buzidragis Junior High School — Holly Brozovich; Coalgate High School — David Cagle, Desi Rae Cagle, Brittany Campbell, Madisyn Garrett, Aaron Gaylor, Kyrstan Glasco, Eathen Graham, Jordan Helton, Censi Martin, Shane Nichols, and Kimberly Lehigh Segovia; Eufaula Senior High School — Shelby Franklin, Haley Gilley, Ashley Kapoor, Kara Padgett, and Micah White; Haileyville School — Patrick Gorfourth; Indianola Public School - Clinton Allar, Richard Anderson,Vanessa Bloxham, Keith Bowman, Cassandra Griffith, and Colby Sexton; McAlester High School — Morgan Bond, Jessie Brock, Robin Ray, Dalante Redway, Tamara Snow, Taylor Sossamon, Jennifer Tryon, Jeff, Williams, and Julia Wynn; Quinton High School — Samantha Payton and Kenton Pugh; Savanna High School — Clinton Bryant, Owen Dayton, Chance Reese, and Siara Reich; Stuart High School — Jesseka Howell, Amber Jones and Damali Koontz; Talihina High School — Toby Hawkins, Donna Mc Kee and Colton Snead, and Wilburton High School — Desirae Wilson.
OSU Sorority bids accepted
Two area students were among 536 women at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater to be accepted this fall to join one of the 11 sororities on campus, according to the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs.
Samantha M. Mahan, of McAlester, was accepted to Kappa Delta and Evan K. Grippando, also of McAlester, was accepted to Pi Beta Phi.
Students of the month named at Quinton
Lindsey Ogden and Zachary Harrison were selected as the senior representatives for the Students of the Week at Quinton High School.
Ogden is the daughter of Wayne and Martha Ogden. She is the senior class president and student council president. She is a four-year member of the FFA, where she serves as vice president and is a member of the Show Team. She is a four-year member in FCCLA, two-year member of the speech team, is serving her first year on the yearbook staff, and is a member of the golf team. She is on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll. She attends the First Baptist Church of Quinton.
Harrison is the son of Becky Harrison and the late Wes Harrison. He is a four-year member of the football team, four-year member of the powerlifting team, and four-year member of the track team. He was a state qualifier in powerlifting and the discus throw as a sophomore and as a junior. He is a on the Principal’s Honor Roll.
