Jennifer Bullard, a senior at McAlester Christian Academy, has been selected to attend the 2009 Congressional Student Leadership Conference on Medicine and Healthcare, sponsored by LeadAmerica. Bullard is the daughter of Nellie and Jimmy Bullard, of Hartshorne. She is the granddaughter of Jewell and the late Billy Warren, of Hartshorne.
The CSLC is a college accredited invitational leadership program for academically talented and promising young leaders from across the United States and internationally. Bullard will join other exceptional high school students with records of academic achievement and extracurricular or community involvement who are invited to participate.
The CSLC on Medicine and Healthcare is a 10-day leadership program in which students take on the roles of healthcare professionals and learn to manage a patient’s case, making health care decisions based on new medical facts and circumstances presented each day.
The CSLC on Medicine and Healthcare is designed in cooperation with Georgetown University School of Medicine, Mount Sinai School of Medicine and the Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science.
“It has always been my dream to do something in the medical field. It is an amazing opportunity for me to achieve that,” Bullard said. Bullard is looking forward to attending the conference. “It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity. I am very thankful that I am getting the chance to go to Washington, D.C. and pursue my dreams,” Bullard said.
Bullard plans to attend college. She received the Oklahoma Leadership Award and has served as a page for state Sen. Richard Lerblance, D-Hartshorne.
