McAlester woman allegedly groped in toy department

McALESTER — A 27-year-old local woman reported to the police Monday that she was groped at the Wal-Mart Supercenter in McAlester.

Det. Sgt. Christopher Morris, the public information officer of the McAlester Police Department and the detective assigned to the case, said that the incident allegedly occurred at the toy section of the store.

Minors were allegedly present at the time of the reported forcible fondling.

According to a McAlester police incident report, the reported suspect was wearing a checkered shirt and a blue T-shirt and blue jeans. Also according to the report, he was alleged to be of American Indian descent, standing 5 feet, 10 inches tall, and weighing an estimated 185 pounds. He also was reported to have brown eyes.

Morris said that no cameras recorded what took place, and that something like this is rare.

“There is not much you can do to stop something like this from happening. A guy just came up and did it,” Morris said. “We would like to get (the people who commit these type of offense) in jail so that they can’t hurt anyone else and others will take notice.”

Anyone with information that may help police is asked to contact the MPD’s Criminal Investigation Division at 918-421-4917.
