A wallet that had $1,200 inside was allegedly lost and then found, but with the money missing, Friday at the Wal-Mart Supercenter in McAlester, according to police.
It is believed by police that Kevin Long, 44, of McAlester lost his wallet in the Wal-Mart parking lot. It is also believed, according to Det. Sgt. Chris Morris, the wallet did contain money inside.
Morris, who is the investigating officer for the case and the public information officer for the McAlester Police Department, said that police are continuing to investigate.
According to an incident report, the alleged money was an assortment of bills. The wallet was believed to have a value of $25 and also contained personal documents. The personal documents were with the wallet when it was returned, according to police.
The case is classified as grand larceny/theft because the contents are believed to be valued at greater than $500, according to the incident report.
