A McAlester woman was hurt Wednesday night when her car hit a semi-truck parked on a highway on-ramp.
Katie Fitzgerald, 26, was flown by medical helicopter to a Tulsa hospital following the 10:02 p.m. wreck near Checotah on the Interstate 40 ramp from U.S. Highway 69, according to a report from Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
The report indicates Fitzgerald was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Impala east onto Interstate 40 when the car ran off the left side of the ramp, overcorrected and hit a semi-truck. The truck had been parked on the right-hand shoulder of the ramp at the time of the wreck.
Cause of the collision was attributed to unsafe speed on a curve, according to the report.
