McAlester man accused of abusing 3 children

McALESTER — A McAlester man is accused of physically abusing three children, including an 8-year-old boy, a 13-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl.

Jonathan Dewayne Williams, 40, was charged June 26 in Pittsburg County District Court with one count of child abuse by injury. According to court records, Williams allegedly hit, slapped, bit and punched the three children on multiple occasions between November of 2012 and March of 2013.

Authorities interviewed the three children and learned that Williams allegedly bit the children on their “bottoms” and multiple occasions, punched them numerous times and duct-tapes their mouths and ripped the tape off.

If convicted, Williams is facing up to a life sentence. He was arrested early Tuesday morning and is being held at the Pittsburg County jail in lieu of a $50,000. He was unavailable for comment when this article was being prepared for publication.
