OSBI called in to investigate death of woman

McALESTER — Hartshorne Police have asked the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation to assist with a probe into the death of a woman in Hartshorne.

The OSBI and Hartshorne Police are investigating the death of Kathryn A. Sparling, police chief Jimmy Don Wilson confirmed.

It was reported that Sparling was ran over by pickup truck at a residence at 721 E. Lehigh, Wilson said. The police chief said the woman had been ran over in the driveway of the residence.

Police were notified after a Hartshorne ambulance crew, assisted by members of the Hartshorne Fire Department, picked Sparling up at the residence, Wilson said.

Sparling was then transported to the McAlester Regional Health Center, the police chief said. Wilson said his information is that Sparling was still alive when she left Hartshorne and arrived at MRHC, but she later died at the hospital.

Wilson said he met with OSBI Monday and shared information he had obtained with OSBI investigators. He said no arrest have been made as of near noon Monday.

Wilson said Sparling’s body has been turned over to the state medical examiners office.
