A man has died after allegedly being assaulted during an altercation, McAlester police said.
Roland Manfred Guttke, 46, of McAlester died Sunday at a Tulsa hospital after he was allegedly assaulted on Friday, according to McAlester Police Det. Kevin Hearod.
McAlester police say they responded to a call at 11 p.m. on Friday at 922 E. Comanche Ave.
“We arrived at a scene and found (Guttke) bleeding from the back of the head,” Hearod said.
Evidence collected at the scene included a a broken wooden bat and a bloody towel, according to the police report.
Hearod said the man was taken by ambulance to McAlester Regional Health Center and then flown by medical helicopter to Tulsa, where he was pronounced dead on Sunday.
No one has been charged in the case, which is still under investigation, Hearod said.
“We are interviewing several people and we’ve heard several different stories about what occurred,” he said.
