Felony dispositions

The following felony cases were decided March 7 in Pittsburg County District Court. Listings do not include all court costs and fees.

Christopher J. Burke, 28, of McAlester, pleaded no contest March 7 to DUI alcohol, and judgment and sentencing were deferred for five years. He was also fined $500 and was ordered to attend two victim’s impact panels, obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation, and attend DUI school.

Colton Tate Kelley, 22, of McAlester, pleaded guilty March 7 to possession of synthetic cannabis, possession of controlled dangerous substance, and misdemeanor DUI alcohol and/or drugs, and possession of drug paraphernalia. A 10-year sentence was suspended on the drug charges, and a one-year sentence was suspended on the DUI, to be served concurrently with each other and with sentencing in a separate case. He was also fined $400, ordered to enter Pittsburg County Drug Court and to remain jailed at the council jail until released or transported to rehabilitation as determined by the drug court. Dismissed was a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Also on March 7, Kelley pleaded guilty to charges of possession of controlled dangerous substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. A 10-year sentence was suspended on the felony charge, and one-year sentence was suspended on the misdemeanor, to be served concurrently with each other and with sentencing in a separate case. He was also fined $5,000, with all but $300 suspended, on the felony and $100 on the misdemeanor. He was also ordered to enter Pittsburg County Drug Court and to remain jailed at the council jail until released or transported to rehabilitation as determined by the drug court.

Edward Monroe Marshall Jr., 54, of Leonard, pleaded guilty March 7 to aggravated DUI alcohol and misdemeanor  driving with a suspended license. A three-year sentence was suspended on the felony charge, and he was fined $350.

Jimmy Robert Steele, 33, of Krebs, pleaded guilty March 7 to assault and battery with deadly weapon, possession of altered air pistol, and misdemeanor malicious injury to property valued at less than $1,000, threaten to perform act of violence, and driving with license canceled, suspended or revoked. A 15-year sentence was suspended on the assault charge, a five-year sentence was suspended on the firearm charge, and one-year sentences were suspended on the misdemeanors, all ordered served concurrently with each other and with sentencing in two other cases. He was also fined $800, restitution in the case was reserved and a misdemeanor charge of transporting opened container of beer was dismissed. He was also ordered to have no contact with the victim in the case.

Johnathan Dewayne Williams, 40, of McAlester, pleaded guilty March 7 to possession of controlled dangerous substance and a 10-year sentence was suspended, to be served concurrently with sentencing in a separate case. He was also fined $5,000, with all but $500 suspended.
