A McAlester woman who was entrusted to babysit a 4-year-old girl and a 2-year-old boy pleaded no contest recently to leaving the children alone in her home while she went to the casino.
Toni A. Webb, 39, pleaded no contest July 19 in Pittsburg County District Court to two felony counts of child neglect. She was fined $700. Judgment and sentencing were deferred for 10 years and Webb was ordered “not to be around any child under the age of 18 with the exception of her own biological children,” court records state.
According to an affidavit, police received a report that Webb had left the two children she was babysitting alone in her home on multiple occasions. On April 17, police went to Webb’s residence and “found a young girl holding a blanket standing near to the front door and a young boy in one of the bedrooms laying on the bed watching television,” the affidavit states.
Police then located the children’s babysitter, Webb, at the Choctaw Casino, according to the affidavit. Webb was arrested and transported to the Pittsburg County jail.
