Talihina man dies after wreck

McALESTER — A Talihina man, 79, died Wednesday after being ejected from his truck in an accident last week on U.S. 271 in Talihina, officials say.

Huey Mangus died Wednesday at 10:31 a.m. after the Jan. 31 one-vehicle accident that happened just after 10 a.m., seven miles north of Talihina in LeFlore County, according to a report by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

No one else was injured, according to the report.

The report states that Mangus was northbound in a 2000 Chevrolet pickup

when his truck left the road way and collided with a guardrail.

Mangus was thrown approximately five feet from the vehicle and he was not wearing a seat belt, the report states

 He was taken by medical helicopter to St. John Medical Center in Tulsa with internal and external trunk head, arm and leg injuries, according to the report.
