A Roland truck driver was hospitalized early Friday after his semitruck ran off a county road near Stuart and flipped.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported Jimmy D. James, 51, was driving the truck southbound on a gravel road, seven miles south of Stuart, when it ran off the road and flipped. Cause of the 12:47 a.m. wreck was attributed to an unsafe speed on a curve or turn, according to an OHP report.
James was taken by medical aircraft to Sparks Medical Center in Fort Smith, Ark., with head and internal trunk injuries, according to the report, and was listed in stable condition.
The accident was investigated by trooper Dennis Splawn of the Pittsburg County detachment of OHP’s Troop D. Also responding to the wreck were the Hughes County Sheriff’s Department and Hughes County Emergency Medical Services.
