Reward offered in stolen trailer case

McALESTER — There is a $500 reward for information that can lead investigators to the retrieval of a stolen trailer, said John Ogiela, the owner of Ogiela’s Mower Shop and owner of a trailer that he said went missing on June 8.

Police now have a description of the vehicle they believe is behind the recent trailer thefts in McAlester.

Police are on the lookout for a smaller black, four-door truck that is either a Toyota or Nissan.

On Thursday, The News-Capital reported that a trailer was stolen off the lot of Beautiful Rooms on East Wyandotte Avenue. There were suspisions that the incident may have been related to other thefts in the area.

On Thursday, McAlester police said that they agreed that a connection is possible.

Ogiela said that the thieves must have cut through chains to get through a fence that was guarding his property. He described his trailer as black with “McCry” engraved on its side. This trailer is the one with the reward offered.

Kermit Peters, the owner of Beautiful Rooms, said Wednesday that his trailer was taken from the front of the store sometime during Monday night or Tuesday morning.

Anyone with information that may help police is asked to contact the McAlester Police Department Investigation Unit at 918-421-4917.
