Man charged with pointing a firearm

McALESTER — A McAlester man has been charged after allegedly using a gun to intimidate a woman identified by police as the mother of his child.

Terrell DeJaun Mace, 23, is facing one count of feloniously pointing a firearm, a felony, and one count of threatening to perform an act of violence, a misdemeanor, after allegedly sending threatening text messages and allegedly producing a handgun during an argument.

There is a felony warrant out for his arrest.

According to allegations in a police affidavit, Mace first sent text messages to the alleged victim on May 9 and 10. In the messages, Mace is alleged to have said that the upcoming Mother’s Day would be her last. On Mother’s Day, a voluntary statement was filled out for police by the alleged victim.

Later that day, the alleged victim came back to the police station to report she had allegedly been threatened with a cocked handgun by Mace.

The alleged victim told McAlester Police Officer Dustin Nash, according to allegations in the police affidavit, that when she went to pick up her child from Mace, he told her that she should leave and that the child was staying with him. According to the allegations, an argument ensued, and Mace allegedly went to his car to grab a firearm.

According to the police affidavit, it was unclear whether Mace had pointed the alleged gun at the alleged victim, because she said she was fleeing.

Mace, if convicted, could be sentenced up to 10 years and six months in prison for the two counts.
