Police look for answers in stolen property cases

Two burglaries/thefts were reported to the McAlester Police Department in the late hours of Monday night.

Items valued at thousands of dollars were allegedly stolen from a residence at West Chestnut Avenue in McAlester, while hundreds of dollars worth of lawn mowers were allegedly taken from a house on East Polk Avenue, in McAlester, according to police incident reports.

Missing on West Chestnut were nine items totaling more $9,400 of value. Two items, a stump-grinder with a 13-horsepower Honda motor and a 17-inch ranch saddle legging, were valued at $3,500 each according to the report; nothing under $80 was reported missing.

Also missing was a STIHL chainsaw, a KOMATSU Red 24, a SKIL circular saw, a SKIL jig saw, two air compressors, and a SKIL portable table saw.

Meanwhile two mowers, valued at $425 and $300 went missing after the owner of the property left for the day, according to a police incident report. There is not a suspect for the case; however the investigation is still open.

Both mowers are described as a Craftsman red push-mower in the report.

The $425 mower is listed as one-year-old. The $300 mower is listed as four-years-old.

The anticipated charge for the alleged incident at West Chestnut is burglary/breaking and entering, according to the report. The anticipated charge for the missing mowers is larceny/theft.

Law enforcement asks anyone with information about these crimes to call the Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division at 918-421-4917. Callers can remain anonymous, police said.
