Convicted felon faces another charge of allegedly possessing firearms

A McAlester convicted felon went to court on Friday morning to appear for on charges that included felony grand larceny, bringing contraband into a jail/penal institution and misdemeanor possession of a controlled dangerous substance; he was met with another charge accusing him of possessing 30 firearms after a felony conviction.

It is alleged that on May 19, weapons were found at the residence of Jeremy Crawley, 36. McAlester police officers and Pittsburg County sheriff’s deputies are listed as witnesses in the case.

On Friday, Crawley was told that he was now facing a new set of charges that included possession of firearms, two counts of felony possessing of a controlled dangerous substance, maintaining a place for keeping/selling a controlled substance and misdemeanor unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

It is alleged that Crawley knew there were 30 different types of firearms at his residence. It is also maintained by prosecutors that he had in his possession methamphetamines and marijuana.

According to the charge, the weapons were found in an Air Stream travel trailer located on New Baker Road.

Crawley was convicted in 2002 of establishment of manufacturing operations, according to the information sheet from the Pittsburg County court clerk’s office.

According to court documents, Crawley pleaded innocent to the new counts and bond was set at $20,000. He is due back in court on July 18 for a preliminary hearing conference.

Crawley could face up to 50 years in prison for his two possession of controlled dangerous substance charges and maintaining a place for keeping/selling controlled substance if convicted. Court documents are unclear what possible punishment he could face for the firearms and paraphernalia if convicted.
