UPDATE: Crowder man found with gunshot wound and explosives dies

McALESTER — A Crowder man is dead after he was found with a gunshot wound and apparent explosives, authorities say.

Joshua Ledford, 36, of Crowder died Thursday afternoon, according to Richard Bedford undersheriff for Pittsburg County.

“We had a call from the medical examiner’s office reporting that (Joshua Ledford) died about 5 p.m.” Bedford said.

It was a Wednesday night 911 call that brought deputies to the scene, Bedford said.

Ledford was found with an apparent gun shot wound to the head and also found were apparent detonating equipment and explosives, according to Bedford. Ledford was taken to a Tulsa hospital where he was listed in critical condition Thursday morning. He died later that evening.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol Bomb Squad was also called to  the Crowder residence, Bedford said.

The case is still under investigation the Pittsburg County Sheriff’s office.
