Norman man is dead and an Arkansas motorcyclist was hospitalized in separate accidents in the area over the Memorial Day weekend.
Lawerence Dillard, 33, of Norman, died at a Eufaula hospital following a Saturday evening wreck at State Highway 9.
Injured in a Friday night wreck on State Highway 31 was Wesley Wright, 37, of Bono, Ark.
According to reports by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Dillard had been driving an electric golf cart on Fisher Road at State Highway 9 in northern Pittsburg County when he was hit by a pickup truck just before 8 p.m. Saturday. According to OHP, Dillard failed to yield from a stop sign before being hit by the westbound truck on State Highway 9.
In Friday’s wreck, OHP reported Wright was driving a Harley Davidson motorcycle on State Highway 31 a half mile west of Ash Creek Road when he lost control of the bike while trying to brake.
Wesley, who had also investigated the Friday wreck, reported Wright had been westbound on the highway at about 11 p.m. when he missed a turn at the Outlaw Motorcycle Club, tried to brake and lost control. The motorcycle rolled and Wright was thrown about 10 feet from the wreckage.
