Pittsburg County Misdemeanor Dispositions
From staff reports
The following misdemeanor cases were decided in Pittsburg County District Court Nov. 21-24. Dispositions include dismissed cases, suspended and deferred sentences, and sentences from trials and plea bargains.
• Charges were dismissed for Josh Scott Jeffries, 19, of McAlester, on Nov. 21 by prosecutors citing an alleged victim’s inability to identify Jeffries. He had been arrested by McAlester police and charged with pointing a weapon at another person, and discharge of a firearm in a public place.
• Judgment and sentencing for Marty Emmett Raiburn, 50, of Kiowa, were deferred for five years Monday after he pleaded guilty to charges of aggravated driving under the influence. Judgment and sentencing on a charge of malicious injury to property were deferred for one year, and he was fined $600 on both counts. Additionally, he was ordered to pay $10 fines each for driving left of center, failure to carry insurance verification and failure to stop at a stop sign. The deferrals were ordered concurrent with each other and with a deferral in a bogus check case.
• Judgment and sentencing for Raiburn were deferred for three years Monday after he pleaded guilty to obtaining cash or merchandise by bogus check or false pretenses. He was also ordered to pay $2,894 in restitution, and the deferral was ordered concurrent with a deferral in a drunk driving case.
• Quinlan Blake Edwards, 18, of Mount Olive, Miss., was ordered Nov. 21 to pay fines as scheduled after he pleaded guilty to illegal possession of a white tailed deer.
• Charles E. Edwards, 52, of Mize, Miss., was ordered Nov. 21 to pay fines as scheduled after he pleaded guilty to illegal possession of a white tailed deer.
