McALESTER — Pictued is Mike Mulkey, an accomplished carver, with some of his work. His carvings and those of other members of the McAlester Area Woodcarvers Club are on display this month at the McAlester Public Library. Mulkey has been carving for five years and is best known for his cowboy carvings. A dedicated MAWC member he drives round-trip from the Atoka area twice a month. MAWC meeting are located at the KTC campus in McAlester and are scheduled on the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 7:00 p.m. The Club is open to visitors with free classes for all.
