Library Safety

McALESTER —

Carolyn Wright, left, with Friends of the Library of McAlester, looks over materials about the new McAlester Safe Neighborhoods Program with Master Patrolman Jeremy Busby of the McAlester Police Department. Officer Busby, Community Services Officer, spoke at the first of a new monthly program series, designed especially for senior citizens, who may not be comfortable driving to the library after dark. These monthly afternoon programs will be facilitated by Wright and will be on the first Tuesday afternoon of every month. The next scheduled presentation will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, when Pride in McAlester Executive Director Regina Peoples will talk about her organization and opportunities for volunteers to contribute to its mission. Other programs slated for April and May will focus on elder fraud and genealogy research. For more information on these or any other library programs call 918-426-0930.
