Hard Times Festival quilt show is Oct. 14

From submitted reports

Hartshorne’s Hard Times Festival quilt show is set for Oct. 14 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the old Grand Leader building on Pennsylvania Avenue.

Coordinator Shirley Monks said, “Now is the time to show your beautiful quilts and share them with others who appreciate them as the wonderful works of art that they are.”

There are three divisions: quilts, baby quilts and afghans.

Categories in the quilts and baby quilts division are Most Original 1930, appliquéd, embroidered, pieced, old, tacked, painted and history.

All quilts must be hand-quilted or tacked.

The tops may be machine sewn but hand-quilted.

No machine stitching is allowed.

There will be a Quilt of the Show Award and Most Original 1930s Quilt Award. The judges of the show will determine the winners. Prizes will be announced later.

Visitors will be asked to cast their vote for Crowd Pleaser, baby quilt and afghan. Ribbons will be given.

To enter, call Monks at (918) 297-7414 or 470-9071. The deadline for entries is Oct. 8.
