Robert ‘Bobby’ Scott

McALESTER — Robert “Bobby” Scott, 63, died McAlester, Thursday, March 13, 2014, at McAlester Regional Health Center.

The family will receive visitors today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bishop Funeral Home with Red Coleman and Kevin Wright officiating.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Bishop Chapel of Memories. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in McAlester.

Military honors will be provided by Robert B. Thomas, Veterans of Forgien Wars, Post No. 1098

Arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service.

He was born on March 15, 1950, in McAlester to Albert Wallaceand Eva Johnson Scott. He attended schools in Krebs and graduated from McAlester High School in 1968. He joined the United States Navy in 1969 and served in Vietnam in 1970 and 1971, completing two tours of duty on the Navy supply ship USS Sacremento AOE1.

He married Carol Beck Powell on Nov. 22, 1985, in McAlester. He started working for the United Parcel Service in 1975 and retired in 2007 after 32 years of service. He then began working for the United States Army Ammunition Plant in 2007 in the transportation field and retired in 2012.

He was a member of the Main and Oklahoma Church of Christ for about 24 years and served as a deacon. He was also a member of the American Legion Post No. 79 and the Teamsters.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Scott, of the home; daughter, Alia Turney, of Tulsa; sons, Daniel Scott, and wife, Adriana Scott, of Tulsa, Matt Powell, and wife, Tracy, of Durant; grandchildren, Macy Powell, of Durant, Riley Powell, of Durant, Abey Turney, of Tulsa; brother and identical twin, Kenneth “Kenny” Scott, of Haslet, Texas; sister, Evelyn Gamburg, of Las Vegas, Nev.; mother-in-law, Georgia Beck, of McAlester, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Lorene and Carroll Smith, of Osceola, Ark., Glenda and Mike O’Neal, of McAlester, and Joe and Barbara Beck, of McAlester; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Eva Scott.

Active pallbearers will be Kelly Hart, Dennis McMath, Michael Parker, Barry Stinson, Mike McDonald and Mike Duseberry.

Honorary pallbearers will be elders of the Main and Oklahoma Church of Christ Tim Maxcey, Butch Lecrone, Clem Santine, Red Coleman and Danny Bridgewater.
