Now that the District 3 commissioner’s race is history, I would like to express an item that came up several times while I was campaigning for the position.
I had several individuals ask, if elected, would I do something about the commissioners’ weekly meetings and the fact they do no show much professional etiquette conducting meetings by wearing hats, caps and using spit cups and allowing this while conducting business for the people of the county.
Since I failed to be elected I feel this is the best way to convey my opinion.
In local, county, state, and federal government meetings throughout the country, all meetings by elected officials are conducted in a manner that shows character, respect and professionalism for the position; this means hats off, especially inside a public building and before the U.S. and state flags.
As a U.S. Navy and Army National Guard veteran of 30 years, meetings conducted inside were with hats off.
