What Ada police called “hot rodding” led to a damaged car, mailbox and retaining wall Saturday afternoon.
The single-vehicle wreck occurred in the 500 block of W. 18th at 3:06 p.m. Ada Police Sergeant Kevin Hood said 29-year-old Mathew Pfeiffenburger of Ada was driving a 2004 Subaru west on 18th when he lost control and drove into a residential yard.
“From the evidence it appeared Mr. Pfeiffenburger was westbound on 18th and accelerated too quickly, losing control,” Hood wrote in a report. “His vehicle exited the roadway to the right and ran over mailbox at 520 W. 18th, then continued through the yard at 522 W. 18th.”
Pfeiffenburger then drove through a small retaining wall. The vehicle came to a stop in the yard of 524 W. 18th, according to Hood.
Ada firefighters and Mercy EMS checked out Pfeiffenburger at the scene, but he refused a trip to the hospital. He was issued a citation for “speed not reasonable and prudent,” Hood said.
