Two arrested on meth complaint

GAILEY — Two people were arrested after authorities allegedly discovered products used to make methamphetamine at their residence.

Arrested were  69-year-old Larry Hinkle and 52-year-old Lisa Snell. Authorities responded to a report of a possible overdose at a house in the 5,000 block of state Highway 3W at 6:48 p.m. Saturday. Hinkle reportedly told 911 dispatch his girlfriend, Snell, “took a bunch of his Clonopin, approximately 120 pills,” Pontotoc County Sheriff’s Deputy Sandy Bynum wrote in a report. Bynum met Hinkle at the residence.

“As I approached the back door of the residence I observed (Snell) lying on the floor wrapped in a blanket” Bynum wrote. “I began talking to (her) and she stated she took her medication but could only remember taking Ambien and Clonopin. I asked (her) where her medicine was at and she stated (Hinkle) hid it from her.”

Bynum said she and Hinkle looked for the medicine in the kitchen.

“In a cabinet I observed a plate with a white powder substance on it, a white ‘snort straw’ containing a white powder substance and a credit card,” Bynum wrote. “I asked (Hinkle) what was on the plate and he told me it was crushed up pills.”

Hinkle reportedly told Bynum Snell may have hidden her medicine in a bedroom, where they continued to search.

“Above the bed I observed two syringes,” Bynum said. “In the closet I found a bag that contained a glass pipe with burnt residue inside and a red snort straw. I asked (Hinkle) about the items and he stated he hasn’t used meth since he got busted and he didn’t know if (Snell) used meth.”

Hinkle reportedly gave Bynum and Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Brian Bagwell permission to search the property.

“Myself and Trooper Bagwell followed (Hinkle) around the property, and as we approached the barn I observed a 55 gallon drum that contained burnt trash,” Bynum said. “Lying on top I noticed a social security card an Oklahoma ID card and a credit card, all were partially burned.”

The name on the cards came back to a Garvin County woman whose purse was allegedly stolen in the Gailey area two weeks prior. The search continued.

“(Hinkle) and I walked to the barn and we entered the barn I observed a green plastic bottle containing a clear liquid and a unknown cloudy substance,” Bynum said. “I asked (Hinkle) what it was and he stated it looked like pop to him. (Hinkle) wanted to throw it away and told me several times he would dispose of it because it was nothing. He attempted to pick it up and I told him to get back and leave it alone.

From my training and experience it appeared to be a ‘one-pot’ method for making methamphetamine.”

Bynum called for drug task force officers who tested the bottle and confirmed it was the method for making methamphetamine.

Hinkle was arrested at the scene on suspicion of manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of stolen property. After being medically cleared at Mercy Hospital Ada, Bynum arrested Snell on suspicion of manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of stolen property.
