After spending over 2-1/2 hours holding a meeting of the Jefferson County Commissioners, board members of the Jefferson County Economic Development Authority (JCEDA) caught a little break on July 1.
A regular meeting, during which the three commissioners become JCEDA trustees, lasted about 10 minutes. (Board member Sue Bridges was absent.)
There were no bills to pay or purchase orders to issue, and none of the county officers had reports. There was no old or new business to discuss.
During a hearing of citizens, Richardson Family Trust representative Gary Gerken raised the topic of property the trust hopes will be purchased by the county commissioners and/or JCEDA board.
No action can be taken on that matter until the county’s fiscal year 2013-14 budget has been approved, which will be in late August or early September. If the commissioners and JCEDA board are unable to budget the entire cost of purchasing the land, Gerken asked them to consider the possibility of a lease/purchase agreement.
The board unanimously approved minutes from a regular meeting on June 3.
