Naked and tripping on hallucinogenic mushrooms

ENID, Okla. — Two Enid men have been charged with indecent exposure following their arrests early Sunday, naked and tripping on hallucinogenic mushrooms.

Nicholas Jon Eubanks, 26, and Bradley Martin Ferguson, 27, both were charged with felony counts of indecent exposure. Each faces imprisonment for 30 days to 10 years and/or a fine of $500 to $20,000, if convicted of the charge.

According to affidavits filed in the cases, Enid Police Department officers responded at about 1:25 a.m. Sunday to the 3200 block of Whippoorwill and the 3100 block of Raven Ridge on reports of unwanted guests.

Officer Lee Frisendahl responded to the complaint on Raven Ridge and was told there was a man banging on the door of a residence, asking for help for a friend who had taken some mushrooms.

Frisendahl arrived and spoke with Eubanks, who was sitting on a small bench wearing a shirt and jacket but nothing else, according to the affidavit. Eubanks was attempting to cover his groin with his shirt, the officer wrote.

Frisendahl asked Eubanks why he was naked from the waist down, and Eubanks said at first he did not know why, but later said he usually sleeps in the nude, according to the affidavit.

Eubanks told Frisendahl he and two friends had taken some bad mushrooms and he was really “tripping out,” according to the affidavit. Eubanks said he wasn’t sure why he was at the residence, besides the lights were on and he thought it looked warm, according to the affidavit.

Frisendahl escorted Eubanks to his vehicle, and Eubanks told the officer he was hallucinating and seeing demons, according to the affidavit. Eubanks then said he had thrown up and was coming down.

Frisendahl noted in his affidavit Eubanks was slow to respond and kept repeating himself.

Eubanks told Frisendahl there were two other men with him at his basement bedroom address at 3401 Whippoorwill, and they all consumed the mushrooms, according to the affidavit. Eubanks would not say where he got the mushrooms, but said they came in a plastic bag with about 12 mushrooms in the bag.

Officer Donald Sanders responded to the 3200 block of Whippoorwill on a report of a man in the yard of a residence screaming.

When he arrived with Frisendahl, they saw Officer Sean Dyer ordering a man, identified as Ferguson, to the ground.

Sanders noted in the affidavit Ferguson had a blank stare on his face, was completely nude and was not following Dyer’s commands.

Ferguson told police he did not know what was going on. Sanders asked Ferguson where he lived and Ferguson said “here,” according to the affidavit. Court documents list Ferguson’s address as 2018 N. Meadowbrook.

Sanders then asked Ferguson what was going on and he did not respond. Sanders noted Ferguson’s speech was slurred, his pupils were dilated and he was slow to answer questions. Ferguson also appeared confused and did not seem to realize he was completely nude, according to the affidavit.

Sanders spoke with the owner of the residence where Ferguson was found. The owner said he did not know who Ferguson was and said his doorbell had been rung multiple times.

The man said he went to his front door and saw Ferguson on his porch completely nude. He said he did not know what Ferguson wanted and said Ferguson appeared to be on drugs.

Both men are free on $1,000 bonds and are set for arraignment this monring on the charges.
