Oklahoma State running back Devon Thomas charged with three felonies

STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State University running back Devon Thomas has pleaded not guilty to three felony charges, and is scheduled to appear in a Tulsa County district court on June 20.

Thomas, 18, Stillwater, is charged with robbery with a firearm, shooting with intent to kill and first-degree burglary in a May 27 incident in Broken Arrow. Thomas has been released on $190,000 bail.

Two co-defendants pleaded not guilty to similar charges during arraignment Friday morning.

Eduard Stanton Smith, 18, Broken Arrow, and De'Carrio Bernard Taylor, 18, Broken Arrow, face similar felony charges in connection with the same incident. They were arraigned Friday morning. Two juveniles also have been detained as part of the May 27 incident.

Smith and Taylor pleaded not guilty, and preliminary hearings were set for 9 a.m. July 24. Bail was set at $145.000 for each defendant.

A Broken Arrow Police Department report indicates a victim of a May 27 robbery told officers Thomas robbed him at gunpoint. The victim said at least three others were involved. One of the suspects fired a gun into the victim's vehicle as he was leaving.

Thomas, police said, denied the allegations.

Thomas was considered to be the top running back in the state. In his senior season at Broken Arrow, Thomas rushed for more than 1,500 yards and scored 15 touchdowns on the ground. He was born in Tulsa, and is the son of Chiquita and Dameion Thomas.

He enrolled at Oklahoma State University for the spring semester and participated in spring football.
