ENID, Okla. —
The Goo Goo Dolls are making a stop in Enid.
The Grammy-nominated rock group added a date in Oklahoma to its summer tour with the rock band Daughtry and the pop-punk band Plain White T’s.
Tickets for the Aug. 5 concert, which are priced at $45.50 and $59.50, go on sale 10 a.m. Friday, April 25. Fans can order tickets by calling 855-TIX-ENID, visiting www.EnidEventCenter.com or in the Enid Event Center and Convention Hall Administration offices.
The tour kicks off in Wallingford, Conn., on June 12 and crisscrosses North America through the end of the summer.
"We are excited to finally be teaming up with Daughtry," said Goos vocalist-guitarist John Rzeznik. "Not only are we big fans of Chris, but we think this is going to be a huge party for the fans of both our bands. The combination of the two will make for an awesome summer night of great American rock music."
The Goo Goo Dolls are touring in support of their 10th studio album, “Magnetic,” which debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard Top 200 chart and at No. 2 on the Top Rock Albums chart, propelled by "Come To Me" — the fastest-growing single in the band’s history.
The group has scored 14 Top 10 radio hits — more than any other artist in the history of the Hot AC format — including "Name," "Slide" and "Iris," the latter spending nearly 12 straight months on the Billboard charts and holding the No. 1 position for 17 consecutive weeks.
Daughtry is touring in support of the band’s fourth album, “Baptized,” which was released in November 2013 and debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard Top 200. Daughtry's latest single, "Waiting For Superman," is Top 15 at Hot AC and has sold more than half a million downloads.
The band is currently on a European and soldout U.K. tour.
Daughtry's self-titled debut was the fastest-selling rock debut in Soundscan history and its follow-up, “Leave This Town,” marked the quintet's second consecutive No. 1 album. Daughtry's third album, “Break The Spell,” was certified gold within four weeks of its release. Daughtry's latest single "Waiting For Superman," from the band's new album “Baptized,” is Top 15 at AC.
"We are huge fans of the Goo Goo Dolls and have wanted to tour with them for a long time now," said lead singer Chris Daughtry. "Everyone will see more than two great bands on stage. They're going to get an incredible show every night and have a summer to remember."
This Enid concert adds to the big-name artists like Reba McEntire, Darius Rucker and Kansas who have, or soon will, make a run through Enid.
“We are excited to announce Goo Goo Dolls and Daughtry with special guest Plain White T’s coming to Enid Event Center on Aug. 5,” said Global Spectrum's Keller Taylor, general manager of Enid Event Center and Convention Hall. “Having two multi-platinum and Grammy-nominated American rock recording artists, in Goo Goo Dolls and Daughtry join us this summer, continues to exemplify the diverse entertainment we strive to bring to Enid and north-central Oklahoma.”
The Reba concert, which is sold out, will be June 21. Kansas visits with its 40th anniversary May 10.
