Obituary: Louis E. Epperly

NORMAL, Ill. — Funeral services for Louis E. Epperly, 87, Pryor, will be held on Monday, October 24, 2011, 10:00 AM at Stephens Memorial Chapel.  Pastor Ray Gwartney will officiate and burial will follow at Graham Memorial Cemetery.  Services are entrusted to Stephens Memorial Chapel.

 

Mr. Epperly was born March 2, 1924 in Inola, Oklahoma to George and Josephine (Gordineer) Epperly.  He departed this life on October 19, 2011 in Tulsa at the age of 87 years 7 months and 17 days.

 

Louis attended school in Salina and graduated from Salina High School with the class of 1941.  He was a veteran of World War II and was a Flight Officer with the United States Army Air Corps.  Louis was married to Etna McDonald on September 13, 1947 in Pryor.  He had lived in the Pryor and Chouteau area since 1950.  Louis was owner of Epperly Tile and Carpet for over forty years.  He was a member of the Pryor Elks Lodge and the American Legion.  Louis enjoyed gardening and working on his acreage.  He was very proud of the fact that he had designed the home he and Etna live in.  Louis was very family oriented and enjoyed spending holidays with his family.

 

Louis is survived by wife Etna of the home, daughter Jana Elliott and husband Rick of Pryor, son Jerry Epperly and wife Ruby of Rogers, Arkansas, grandson David Elliott and wife Kayo of Raleigh, North Carolina, granddaughter Rachel Elliott and partner Carol Mason of Lexington, Kentucky.  Louis was preceded in death by his parents, sister Leona Montgomery and cousin Dale Gordineer.
