David Michael “Mike” Raper, 63, of McAlester, died Monday, Sept. 2, 2013, at his home.
The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the family home. Arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.
Born June 15, 1950, in Tulsa, he was the son of Jess E. and Cora Louise (Holmes) Raper. He grew up in Sapulpa and west Texas. He settled in southeastern Oklahoma in the early 1970s.
He began working in the oilfield at the age of 16 and spent a total of 37 years in that profession. Most recently he was employed as an oilfield salesman and manager.
He married Kim Trenary on May 8, 1990, in Las Vegas.
He enjoyed fishing, golfing, going to the casino and yard work.
Survivors include his wife, Kim Raper, of the home; daughters, Brandy Raper, of McAlester, Sherry “Squirrel” Moore and husband, Billy, of Savanna, Jessica Raper , of Savanna, and Jamee Raper, of Savanna.
Also, grandchildren, Chaneay Bell, of Wilburton, Kylee Ashworth, of McAlester, Brayden Ashworth, of McAlester, Candice Boatner and husband, Jesse, of McAlester, Drew Raper, of McAlester, and Derek Moore, of McAlester.
And, great-grandchildren, Joesph and Darion, of McAlester; brother, Garold Raper and wife, Kay, Flagstaff, Ariz.; sisters, Peggy Bradford, of Sapulpa, and Linda Lutsi and husband, Tim, Midland, Texas, and numerous nieces, nephews, brothers and families of his former wife, along with other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jess E. Raper; his mother, Louise (Holmes) Trout; a brother, Roger Raper, and former wife, Peggy Raper.
