Mary Elizabeth (Trotter) Hensley

McALESTER — Mary Elizabeth (Trotter) Hensley, 94, of McAlester, died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, in McAlester.

The family will receive visitors from 5:30 to 7 p.m. today at Bishop Funeral Service.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Holdenville Cemetery with Pastor Craig Scavo officiating. Burial will be at Holdenville Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.

Born Nov. 5, 1918, in Holdenville, she was the daughter of Elbert and Lona (McCoy) Trotter. She graduated from Spaulding High School as class valedictorian in 1935.

She married Clifford Hensley on Dec. 29, 1938, in Holdenville. After her marriage, she lived in Pueblo, Colo. until moving to McAlester in 1942.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting, sewing, crocheting and Sunday drives with her husband and family. She also enjoyed attending gospel singings and watching the Lawrence Welk Show. She was an active member of Victory Park Baptist Church.

Survivors include daughters, Linda Johnson and husband, Richard, of McAlester, and Betty Morris, of Durant; grandchildren, Bruce Spears, Monterey, Calif., Angela Gallegos and husband, Richard, of Calera, Dena Sherrill and husband, Trace, of Durant, and Monty Johnson, of McAlester.

Also, great-grandchildren, Ashley Armstrong and husband, Zach, of Oklahoma City, Cody Rich, of Bokchito, Mikaela Rich, of Calera, Mylan Johnson, of McAlester, and Mason Johnson, of McAlester, and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elbert and Lona Trotter; her husband, Clifford Hensley, on March 26, 2002; great-grandson, Colton Sherrill, on June 11, 2008; an infant brother; brothers, Robert Trotter, John L. Trotter, Jimmy Trotter; sister, Wanda Wingo, and son-in-law, Rene Morris.

Honorary pallbearers will be Monty Johnson, Cody Rich, Richard Gallegos, Zach Armstrong, Trace Sherrill and Phil Trotter.

    Alyce Yvonne Knight Lerblance was born on November 21, 1923, in Pittsburg, Oklahoma, to Fred C. and Letha Mae Knight.  She was the fourth of seven children born to Fred and Letha Knight.  Alyce grew up in Wilburton and graduated with the class of 1941 and was a graduate of Eastern State A & M in Wilburton.

She moved to Edmond, OK, two months ago in order to be closer to her sons and family members. Bette was born on the family farm near Washington, OK, on March 11, 1930.
