Mary Jane Kohler, 87, of McAlester, died Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, at McAlester Regional Health Center.
The family will receive visitors from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Monday at Bishop Funeral Service. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Word of Life Church, Bache, with Pastor Alyce McPherson officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Gibson National Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service.
Born to Charles and Pauline (Turner) Stroup on Sept. 22, 1926, in Muskogee, she graduated from Okmulgee High School. She married Kenneth Kohler in 1950 at Okmulgee.
She was a homemaker and helped raise many children who were not hers. She enjoyed reading and writing poetry, crocheting and making blankets.
She was a member of the Word of Life Church in Bache.
She is survived by her children, Patricia Jean Kohler, of Connecticut, Vincent Paul Kohler, and wife, Melodie, of Sapulpa, Ruth Ann Houlton, of McAlester, and David Richard Kohler, and wife, Cynthia, of Tulsa; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, and numerous family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Pauline Stroup; her husband, Kenneth Leroy Kohler in 1989, and sons, Robert Lee Kohler and Joshua Kohler.
Active pallbearers will be Kelley Kohler, Josh Jones, Billy Whinery, John Titsworth, Tim Adams, Garnett Parks and Joseph Hodgson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Manuel Martinez, Michael Sauer, Jim Stephens and James Wilkett.
