Franklin D. “Pookie” Ketchum

McALESTER — Franklin D. “Pookie” Ketchum, 74, of Indianola, died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Bishop Chapel of Memories with Bart Effinger officiating. Burial will be at Choate Prairie Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.

Born Nov. 3, 1936, in Ulan, he was the son of Paul and Reba (Bumpus) Ketchum. He attended Indianola School.

He worked at the produce house and then worked as a farmer and rancher. He married Carlene Mitchell on Sept. 7, 1993, in Mena, Ark.

He enjoyed raising and running race horses. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Carlene, of the home; sons, Franklin Neil Ketchum and wife, Tammy, of Indianola, Kendall Owen Ketchum, of Ulan, and Billy Keith Ketchum and wife, Tammy, of Ulan.

Also, grandchildren, Katie Talley and husband, Jacob, Kayleb Ketchum, Jacob Ketchum, Leslie Standstipher and wife, Jamie, Kirby Ketchum and wife, Ashley, Cody Ketchum and wife, Jessica, Michelle Ketchum, Keith Isom and Laci Bridgman and husband, Eric; seven great-grandchildren.

And, brothers, Dean Ketchum and wife, Faye, of Tannehill, and Don Ketchum and wife, Alice, of Ulan; the mother of his children, Minnie Crenshaw, of Ulan.

And, uncles, Floyd Bumpus, Temple, Texas and Clyde Whitfield and wife, Barbara, of Seminole; sister-in-law, Ruby Ketchum, of Ulan; bother-in-law, Virgil Mitchell, of the home, and Sherry Mitchell, of the home, and numerous other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Reba and Paul Ketchum, and brothers, James Edward Ketchum and William Carroll Ketchum.

Pallbearers will be Kirby Ketchum, Cody Ketchum, Kayleb Ketchum, Keith Isom, Eric Bridgman and Jacob Ketchum.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Walden, Raymond Cox, Arlan Briggs, Leroy McClaughrey, Jimmy McClaughrey, Jerry Cox, Calvin Carney, Jim Shropshire, Harold Hearod, Bill Hearod, Dewey Grigsby and Dennis Whitfield.

    Alyce Yvonne Knight Lerblance was born on November 21, 1923, in Pittsburg, Oklahoma, to Fred C. and Letha Mae Knight.  She was the fourth of seven children born to Fred and Letha Knight.  Alyce grew up in Wilburton and graduated with the class of 1941 and was a graduate of Eastern State A & M in Wilburton.
