Michael Thomas Morris

McALESTER — Michael Thomas Morris, 43, of McAlester, died Sunday, March 23, 2014, at his home.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Chaney’s Memorial Chapel with Pastor Tom Jones officiating. Burial will be at Crowder Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home of McAlester.

Born June 29, 1970, in Claremore, he was the son of Samuel Ray Morris and Judy Ann (Yocum) Howard. He grew up in McAlester.

He married Stephanie Cockrum on May 25, 1990. He joined the United States Army in 1994. He served four years and had a tour in Haiti and was honorably discharged in 1998 as a specialist.

Following his military career, he moved back to McAlester and worked at McAlester Regional Health Care Center and currently worked as the customer service manager at Rent-a-Center.

He had a wonderful sense of humor.

Survivors include his mother, Judy Howard, of the home; father, Samuel Morris and wife, Deborah, Ivydale, W.V.; children, Jacob, Liam and Parker Morris; mother of his children, Stephanie Morris, of Crowder; brothers, Sam Morris Jr. and wife, Toueria, Fayetteville, Tenn., and Don Morris and wife, Carolyn, Lufkin, Texas; sister, Amber Nicole Jones and husband, Andrew, Charleston, W.V.; nieces and nephews, Sam Morris III, Mallory Phillips, Kyle Morris and Chandler Morris; great-nieces and great-nephews, Sam Morris IV, Michael Morris, Shane Morris and Marianne Morris, and numerous other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Terry Lee Morris; paternal grandparents, Jennie and Gruder Morris, and maternal grandparents, Donald and Anne Lee Yocum.

Pallbearers will be Sam Morris Jr., Don Morris, Kyle Morris, Chandler Morris, Sam Morris III and Jacob Morris.

Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Sloan and Jason Dunn.

    Alyce Yvonne Knight Lerblance was born on November 21, 1923, in Pittsburg, Oklahoma, to Fred C. and Letha Mae Knight.  She was the fourth of seven children born to Fred and Letha Knight.  Alyce grew up in Wilburton and graduated with the class of 1941 and was a graduate of Eastern State A & M in Wilburton.

    Heaven opened its gates for Bette Jo Williams, 84, on Saturday, July 19, 2014, following a brief illness with pancreatic cancer. Bette lived in McAlester, OK, for 60 years. She moved to Edmond, OK, two months ago in order to be closer to her sons and family members. Bette was born on the family farm near Washington, OK, on March 11, 1930.
