DiAnna Wood, 75, of Pittsburg, died Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at McAlester Regional Health Center.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Pittsburg with Dr. Jim Davidson and the Rev. Kenny Morrow officiating. Burial will be at Pittsburg Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.
Born March 24, 1938, in Buck Creek, she was the daughter of O.D. and Roma Roberson Calhoun. She attended both McAlester schools and graduated from Atoka High School.
She was married to Charles R. Wood for 50 years. She worked with him as a school secretary. They started out living in Elgin, Kan., then moved to Herd, and finally to Pittsburg, as she followed her husband as he was a principal, teacher and coach. She also worked as a secretary for Tony Deel Dance Studio.
She served the church as Sunday School teacher and provided flower arrangements for many years. She spent the remainder of her time devoting herself to her family and friends.
She was a member of Pittsburg First Baptist Church for several years.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Karla and Mike Hayes, of Westville, and Keri and Gary Anderson, of Pittsburg; one son and daughter-in-law, Vernon Dee and Staci Wood, South Port, N.C.; one sister and brother-in-law, Billie and Bill Miller, of Atoka; nine grandchildren and spouses, Brant and Sarah Hayes, Channa and Matt Byerly, Kerra and Zac Jones, Cherokee Anderson, Cheyenne Anderson, Jeremy and Amy Yarborough, Ali Wood, Cody Wood and Grace Michalowski, and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Charles R. Wood.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Ray Wood, Joe Ryan, Bronson Hicks, Ray Hicks, Gary Wood and Robert Hicks.
Honorary pallbearers will be Raymond Hicks, Jim Bo Ryan, Garrett Hicks, Don Caudill, Glenn Enloe, Don Scott and J.N. Smyth.
