Michael Olmstead Wacker, 65, of Bache, died Tuesday, Feb., 12, 2013, at his home after a short battle with cancer.
A celebratory memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. March 2 at 5 p.m. at McAlester Country Club. Arrangements are under direction of Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home of McAlester of McAlester.
Born Oct. 6, 1947, in McCook, Neb., he was the third son of Fred Sr. and Margaret (Olmstead) Wacker. He graduated from McCook High School and obtained a business associate degree from Adams State College in Alamosa, Colo.
He was the youngest and a life member of the McCook Elks Lodge and McAlester Lodge, 533. He was a member of the NRA. He was a founder and partner in the Pari-Mutuel Pigs, PIG, Inc., that introduced pig racing and pig roasts in Hitchcock County, Neb.
He played football in high school and was a Nebraska Cornhusker. He enjoyed Nebraska tailgating all over the country in his RV. He also enjoyed many games, from pitch to poker, boating and fishing, quail hunting, afternoons with good friends, and spending time on the plains.
He was a rancher and owner of W.E.W. Cattle Co. and Beverly Cattle Co. in Nebraska and Wacker Cattle Co. in Arkansas. He was also a restaurateur, owning Mick’s Private Club on the Arkansas state line and in Apache Junction, Ariz., where he met and married Dianna, and where they owned Wacker’s Grille.
In 1996 they relocated to Krebs to own All American Homes, a logistics office with Dynasty Transportation and Wacker Ranch RV Park. He retired in Bache, where he gardened with his children and enjoyed ranching and traveling with his wife.
He was of the Episcopal faith
Survivors include his wife, Dianna Sue (Overton) Wacker, of the home; brother, Robert Wacker, and wife, Bonnie, McCook, Neb.; sister-in-law, Doris Wacker, Centerton, Ark.; son, Christopher Michael and wife, Jane Wacker, of Bugtussle; daughter, Christina Margaret Elaine Wacker, Tucson, Ariz.; grandchildren, Brittany Wacker, Brianna Celeste Eklund, Kaitilyn, Justin and Alexander, James and Roberto, Kyle and Cayden and Cora Lee and Riley; mother-in law, Sue Overton, and stepchildren, daughters-in-law and grandchildren, Andy and Jeannie Smith, San Antonio, Texas, Rodney and Lisena Smith, Susan Green, Michael and Rachael Brazil, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Sr. and Margaret and Wacker, and brother, Fredrick D. Wacker.
Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Wacker, Johnny Medders, Wes Oneth, Greg Overton, Michael Gilbert, Bill Baumbach, George Ward and Johnny and William Grantham, his wranglers.
