Beverly Jean Gillis, 69, of Savanna, died Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Brumley-Mills Chapel with Pastor J. P. Hackler officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester.
Born Sept. 19, 1943, in Los Angeles, she was the daughter of Lemmie and Beda (Lewis) Wright. She grew up in the Duncan area and, after graduating from high school, moved with her family to McAlester.
She later married Donald A. Gillis and they moved to Nashua, N.H., where she worked as a quality control inspector at Nashua Corporation where the company made some of the early-era computers. She later bought, and ran, a successful business in Milan, N.H. until she sold it and moved back to the McAlester area.
She had been the general manager of Candlelight Motel in Savanna for many years.
She enjoyed collecting antiques, doing puzzles and working with her plants.
She was of the Assembly of God faith.
Survivors include one daughter, Deborah A. Gillis, of McAlester; one son, Matthew P. Gillis, of McAlester; grandchildren, Shawn Perkins and wife, Marissa Munoz, Sierra Gillis, Matt Gillis and Monica Gillis; great-grandchildren, Shawn M. Perkins II and Emma J. Clymer; sister, Linda Carol Granger, of Alaska; daughter-in-law, Betty Gillis; the father of her children, Donald A. Gillis, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Ronald A. Gillis, and two grandsons, Christopher Perkins and Mason Gillis.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Gillis, Shawn Perkins, Donald Gillis, Bob Saunier, Randy Saunier and Tim Dix.
