Carla Susan Forrester Curts

Carla Susan Forrester Curts, 64

McALESTER — Carla Susan Forrester Curts (64) was born in McAlester, OK on February 25, 1949 and moved with the family to Tulsa, OK at the age of 11.

She attended Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School, Bishop Kelly High School and then attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK. Her 40 year working career began in Tulsa at the County Assessors Office, followed by doing abstracting work in Stillwater. She then moved to Oklahoma City where she worked for Southwest Title and Trust (now First American Title) where she was trained as a commercial escrow officer. Carla then moved on to Capitol Abstract & Title Company, where she worked as a commercial closer for 30 years, and then for American Eagle Title Insurance Company where she worked for about a year and a half and retired due to health reasons. Carla was an excellent closer, was well-liked and respected in the industry and had many loyal customers. Over the years, Carla was a great lover of animals and raised numerous Great Dane dogs, competing in local and regional dog show competitions. She spent all of her adult years writing poetry and created many beautiful pieces of Native American Art. Carla possessed a beautiful and gentle spirit and had many long-time, loving friends.

Carla passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013 in Oklahoma City surrounded by family and friends after a long, brave battle with cancer, and recent kidney failure. She was preceded in death by her father, Carl Forrester. She is survived by her mother Reine, her sisters Lisa and Jeanette, her two brothers Nick and Steven, a host of nieces and nephews and by her ex-husband, Larry Curts, who was her constant companion and caregiver over the last three months.

Memorial services to honor and celebrate Carla’s life will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at 2 pm in Smith & Kernke Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to Free to Live Animal Sanctuary; P.O. Box 5884 Edmond, OK 73083-5884.
