McALESTER — Myrtle Ellen Goddard, 91, of McAlester, died Friday April 26, 2013, at McAlester Nursing Center.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home Chapel. J. P. Hackler will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester.

She was born July 19, 1921, in Indianola to James Alexander and Tiny (Jones) Hardy. She grew up in Indianola until her family moved into McAlester, where she had lived since.

She was married to J.W. Shackelford and then later married Raymond Goddard, both of whom preceded her in death.

She worked for a time in the housekeeping department at McAlester General West Hospital. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

She was survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Johnny Shackelford, of McAlester, Jerry Shackelford and wife Karen, of McAlester, and Danny Shackelford and wife Alma, of McAlester; a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn Butler and husband Frank, of McAlester; two stepsons, Gerald Goddard and wife Judy, of Kiowa, and Jody Goddard and wife Mary, of Texas; a sister, Hazel Smith, of McAlester; sister-in-law Mildred Hardy, of McAlester, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands, J. W. Shackelford and Raymond Goddard; a son, William Carl Shackelford; a grandson, Steven Craig Shackelford; two daughters-in-law, Carol Shackelford and Rhonda Shackelford; two brothers, Roy Hardy and James Hardy, Jr., and three sisters, Mae Porter, Frankie Bullard and Mary Dean Salyards.

Pallbearers will be Brian Shackelford, Justin Butler, Caleb Butler, Colton Shackelford, Auston Colson and Christopher “Kit” Colson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby “Spud” Harmon, John David Shackelford, Frank Butler, Curt Johnson, Wayne Wright, Wayne Gann, Jeff Johns, Tony Ross and Eric Cole.
