Terry Gilliland, 61, of Stuart, died Thursday May 16, 2013, in McAlester.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. at Kellerby Cemetery with Rev. John Roberts officiating. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
He was born on June 26, 1951, in Franklin, Pennsylvania to Seldo and Frances (McKee) Gilliland. He owned a small engine repair business, was the head of the Hughes County firefighter’s tax board and served over 20 years with the Stuart Fire Department, 18 of which were as chief, and he served as head of the Hughes County Fire and Safety Association.
He is survived by his daughter Serena Gilliland, of Stuart; son, Jim VanTreas of El Cajon, Calif.; sister, Jean Bradburn, of Prague; companion, Kathy Atkinson, of Stuart; nephew, Loren Bradburn of Troutman, N.C.; special friends, Carl Jeffcoat, Charles Doan, Bobby Justice, Sr., and Adam Tweedel.
