Vincent Blaine England, 54, of Hartshorne

McALESTER — Vincent Blaine England, 54, of Hartshorne, died Monday, May 20, 2013, at his home.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Church of Christ in Hartshorne with the  Rev. David Sanchez officiating. Burial will be at High Bridge Cemetery in Wilburton. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home of McAlester.

Born Oct. 17, 1958, in Pensacola, Fla., he was the son of Dale England and Betty (Rushton) England. He was raised in Montgomery, Ala. and graduated high school from Fredericktown, Mo. in 1977.

Upon graduation, he joined the United States Navy. He served as a signal man for four years until he was honorably discharged. He then joined the United States Army and served as an officer of intelligence for four years until he was honorably discharged in 1989.

He attended Truman University in Missouri before transferring to the University of Oklahoma where he received his bachelor’s degree. He continued his education at Texas Women’s University where he graduated with a master’s degree in occupational therapy in 1991.

He began his career working for Novacare in Dallas, where he worked for seven years.

He moved to McAlester in 1998. He married Sonya Sharp on Jan. 12, 2006, in Muskogee, and they made their home in Hartshorne.

He enjoyed music, reading and loved animals.  

Survivors include his wife, Sonya England, of the home; daughter, Stephanie Martinez, Dallas; parents, Dale and Betty England.

Also, brother, Mike England, Columbia, Mo.; sisters, Deborah Woody and husband, Billy, McEwen, Tenn., and Andrea and Phil Foley, Hemet, Calif.; parents-in-law, Johnny  D. and Donna Sharp, of Wilburton, and brother-in-law, John Sharp and wife, Tonya, of McAlester.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edward and Beatrice Rushton, Montgomery, Ala.

Pallbearers will be Johnny D. Sharp, John W. Sharp, John Mullins and Robert Woods.

    Alyce Yvonne Knight Lerblance was born on November 21, 1923, in Pittsburg, Oklahoma, to Fred C. and Letha Mae Knight.  She was the fourth of seven children born to Fred and Letha Knight.  Alyce grew up in Wilburton and graduated with the class of 1941 and was a graduate of Eastern State A & M in Wilburton.
