WILBURTON — Ronald Lee “Ronnie” Smith, 65, of Scipio, died Friday, May 17, 2013, at his home.

His body is to be willed to the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. June 16 at Mr. D’s Grocery, 4235 N. Highway 113. Dress is casual for the memorial service. Arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.

Born May 27, 1947, in McAlester, he was the son of Bennie Smith Sr. and Myrtle Mae (Bunch) Smith. He grew up in the McAlester area, graduating from McAlester High School.

He entered the United States Air Force in 1965 and was honorably discharged in 1968.

He attended technical welding school and worked various jobs, including custodian of First Baptist Church of McAlester for several years.

He married Cora Evelene Ellis on April 9, 2004, in McAlester.

He was a member of Richville Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his wife, Cora Evelene Smith, of the home; 11 children; brothers, Melvin Smith and wife, Elsie, of McAlester, Charles Smith and wife, Lois, of Muskogee, and Denver Smith and wife, Patty, of McAlester.

Also, sisters, Ina Weaver, of McAlester, and Ruby Smith, of McAlester; brothers-in-law, Louie Ellis and wife, Cloe, of McAlester, Dale Ellis and wife, Mary, of the McAlester area, Eddie Ellis and wife, Rhonda, of Tannehill, and Jimmy Ellis and wife, Debbie, of Blanco.

And, sisters-in-law, Mary Smith, of McAlester, Gerdi Smith, of Hartshorne, Ellen Rogers, of McAlester, Linda Leedy, of Ohio, Sharron Stitz, of Clayton, Eunice Paxton, and Dorothy Lalli, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie Smith Sr. and Myrtle Mae (Bunch) Smith; five brothers; one sister; three brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law.
