Troy Jack Hammers, 75, of McAlester, died Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at McAlester Regional Health Center.
Graveside services were today at Northtown Cemetery with the Rev. Park “Buster” Cockrum officiating. Military honors were provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1098. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester.
Born June 3, 1937, in McAlester, he was the son of Frank and Myrtle Anna (Casey) Hammers. He married Shirley Ann Petty on Jan. 8, 1954, in Wilburton.
He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathy Hammers, of Krebs, and Sharron Hammers, of McAlester; two sons, Troy Keith Hammers of Haywood, and Jackie Eugene Hammers, of Midwest City; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley, on May 2, 2011; two daughters, Doris Hammers Shelton and Janis Faye Hammers; grandson, Derrick Hammers, and numerous brothers and sisters.
