Ophelia “Bonnie” West, 93, of McAlester, died Saturday, July 26, 2013, at Mitchell Manor Nursing Center.
The family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at Bishop Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Bishop’s Chapel of Memories with Jake Brill officiating, assisted by Cecil Day. Burial will be at White Chimney Cemetery in Stuart. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service & Crematory of McAlester.
Born Dec. 4, 1919, in Haywood, she was the daughter of Cephus Grant and Ella (Howell) Grant. She married Robert Byron West on Aug. 20, 1938, in McAlester.
Ophelia worked at Seamprufe and later went to work at the United States Naval Ammunition Depot for several years.
She was a longtime member of Stuart Advent Christian Church.
She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, cooking, fishing and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her daughters, Willa Faye Lett, of Cabiness, and Marcella Montgomery and her husband, Roy, Wilsonville, Ore.; daughter-in-law, Phyllis West, of Cabiness.
Also, grandchildren, Connie Dunlap and her husband, Ron, of Haywood, Philip Lett, Birmingham, Ala., and Teresa Minor and Gregory Montgomery, both of Sherwood, Ore., and six great-granddaughters, Kayla and Emily Smith, Danielle and Brandie Minor, and Olivia and Hannah Montgomery.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Byron West; son, Robert Loren West; son-in-law, Shirrell Lett, and a brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Hazel Grant.
Pallbearers will be Roy Montgomery, Ronnie Dunlap, Philip Lett, Dakota Dobson, Jim Nunn and Robert Smith.
Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Montgomery, Clovis Fannin, Joe Howell, Charlie Branson, Wayne Bowerman and the employees of Mitchell Manor.
Memorials may be made to White Chimney Cemetery or Hospice of McAlester.
