Oretha Reid

McALESTER — Oretha Reid, 86, of McAlester, died Friday, May 17, 2013, in McAlester.

The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday evening  at Bishop Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Memory Gardens Cemetery with Don Hutchings and Glenda Springer officiating. Burial will follow. Arrangements are under direction of Bishop Funeral Service

She was born on February 11, 1927, in Mitchell, to Alva and Sadie Shrum Phillips. She attended the Mitchell school system. She was first married to Avis Clinton Anderson on June 9, 1946, in McAlester. Avis preceeded  her in death. She later married  Clinton Reid, Jr. on March 11, 1974, in Tulsa. Clinton also preceeded  her in death. She worked at St. Mary’s Hospital and then for the McAlester Regional Health Center for 25 years, working as an SPD Technician. She was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Paula and Larry Walker,  of McAlester; her son and a daughter-in-law, Terry and Annette Anderson of Perth, Australia; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Marsha Phillips, of McAlester, and Everett and El Norme Phillips of Water Valley, Mississippi; four sisters and a brother-in-law, Bernice Holly of Tuttle, Mary of Kentucky, Patsy Phillips of Palms Springs, Calif., Alva Dean and Henry Young of McAlester; a daughter-in-law, Ann Anderson of Locust Grove; a sister-in-law, Doris Phillips, of Kiowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Avis Clinton Anderson; her second  husband, Clinton Reid, Jr. and brothers, Zay G. Phillips and Kimberly Phillips.

Pallbearers will be Nathan Harrington, Andy Harrington, Mathew Harrington, Clint Anderson, Bryan Anderson and J.T. Harrington.
