Geary Wayne Smith

McALESTER — Geary Wayne Smith, 66, of McAlester, died Monday, May 13, 2013, in McAlester.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Richville Baptist Church with the Rev. David Stanfield officiating.

Masonic funeral rites will be conducted by Solomon Masonic Lodge No. 32 of Krebs. Burial will be at Fort Gibson National Cemetery at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.

Born Nov. 1, 1946, in McAlester, he was the son of John Henry and Betty Jean (Welch) Smith.

He graduated from McAlester High School in 1965.

He served in the United States Air Force as an aircraft mechanic and served in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969.

He attended Eastern Oklahoma State College and worked at the U.S. Naval Ammunition Depot in several positions.

He retired as a motor vehicle examiner in September 2004.

He currently served as the director of Camp PLEA.

He was a member of Solomon Lodge No. 32 in Krebs and a dual member of McAlester Lodge No. 9. He was also a member of the 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and Bedouin Shrine.

He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was also a member of Richville Baptist Church and National Rifleman’s Association.

Survivors include his daughter, Felicia Lalli, and husband, Vince, of McAlester; son, Dale Smith, and wife, Nicole, of McAlester; grandchildren, Daniel Woody, of Krebs, Amy Smith, of McAlester, Nicole Smith, of Indianola, Jacob Smith, of McAlester, Ross Lalli and wife, Britney, Springfield, Mo., and Autumn Radford, and husband, Trustin, Springfield; a great-grandchild, Noah Day; brother, Lanie Smith, and wife, Bonnie, of Alderson; sisters, Camilla Faries, and husband, Willie, of McAlester, and Christine Sennett, and husband, Donnie, of Haywood; special friend, Barbara Pugh, of Quinton; the mother of his children, Donna Bannigan, of McAlester, and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Betty Smith, and a sister, JoAnn Smith.

She moved to Edmond, OK, two months ago in order to be closer to her sons and family members. Bette was born on the family farm near Washington, OK, on March 11, 1930.
