McALESTER — Judith “Judy” Hero, 71, McAlester, died Saturday, May 11, 2013, at the McAlester Regional Health Center.

No services are scheduled.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.

She was born March 9, 1942, in Louisville, Ky., to James and Frances (Jones) Smith. She graduated from Anthony High School, in Anthony Kan., with the Class of 1960. She then attended the College of Emporia in Emporia, Kan.

In 2006, she moved to McAlester and worked for the Department of Corrections as an office administrator for the Probation and Parole Office.

She loved animals, especially her beloved, Molly.

She is survived by her son, Michael Dial and wife, Kindra, of Rogers, Ark.; daughter, Michelle Humphries and husband, Larry, of Victoria, Texas; grandchildren, Michael, Jonathan and Tiffany Dial, and Logan Humphries and Dustin Higgins; a brother, Jim Smith and wife, Phyllis, of Choctaw; a niece, Janelle Burchardt and husband, William, of Oswego, Ill.; and a nephew, Aaron Smith, of Garland, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Frances Smith.
