Josie Spicer, 78, of McAlester, died Saturday, May 4, 2013, at a local nursing home.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bishop Chapel of Memories with the Rev. David Stanfield officiating. Burial will be at Featherston Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.
Born Jan. 31, 1935, in Keota, she was the daughter of Connie and Clara Elazala Summers McDonald. She attended schools in Bakersfield, Calif. until the family moved back here in about 1953. She married Rudolph Spicer on Nov. 18, 1961, in McAlester.
She enjoyed fishing, flower gardening and meeting new friends during her travels as a military housewife.
Survivors include her husband, Rudolph Emerson Spicer, of the home; one son, Wiley Duane Sweaney, Suffolk, Va.; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda Jo and Henry Moss, of McAlester; one brother, Bobby Joe McDonald, of Quinton; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Raymond McDonald; a sister, Betty Laverne McDonald, and an infant brother.
Pallbearers will be David Lee McDonald, Kory Moss, Danny Giacomo, Roger Spicer, Jade Cliff and Jeff Falefia.
Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Hass and Keaton Wilkett.
